Rocket Travel by Agoda Website
Role:
Senior Brand Designer
Tools:
Figma + Illustrator + Adobe Photoshop + Adobe After Effects + Webflow
The Opportunity
When I started work as a visual designer at Rocket Travel by Agoda, I remember finding it odd that we didn’t have a dedicated website. With complex and unique white-label offerings, the focus was more on being the expertise behind the scenes for a lot of partners. I made it a personal goal to get a site launched, that would bring value to our business, as well as give our brand a new presence online.
The Process
I worked closely with our marketing director, our content strategist and a user experience designer to get a plan cemented. Once we knew what our goals were, we conducted a bit of competitor benchmarking, I then got into Figma and put together wireframes for each of the pages that we wanted. I didn’t want to spend too much time on this step, so I left things pretty rough before sharing with our smaller internal team, so that we could align on site hierarchy and content. This is where I collaborated with one of our user-experience designers, to really drill in on the overall flow and perspective of a site visitor. We were able to iterate quickly, and soon had wireframes that we could share with a broader internal team of stakeholders that we had defined. This was the point where it was time to start designing. I did a bit of scouring the web, trying to decide on a good platform to use. Knowing that we wouldn’t be able to get much developer assistance, I sought out something that I’d be able to get together myself. We ended up using Webflow, to design and get our site live. I was ambitious in getting this site designed and live within one quarter, with our small team. Working backwards, I set aggressive deadlines to keep our team on track and we were able to make it happen.
The Result
I’m particularly proud of this project, mainly due to the fact that I was able to identify the need and business case, create a detailed timeline and lead our small team to make it possible. The result is a version of what is currently live now at www.rockettravel.com. I was voted a winner of one of our internal values that quarter, receiving praise and recognition from the team and leadership for this accomplishment.
