The Dibz Asset Library

Role:
Lead Visual Designer

Tools:
Figma + Illustrator + Photoshop

The Opportunity

After finalizing a creative expression guide for The Dibz (see previous project) I was asked to help create a library of creative assets, that could easily be used across ad placements, social and other instances. It was time to officially out the new branding in motion — and I was excited. I was provided a nice detailed list, showing the types of placements that we would need visuals for, and the goals behind each.

The Process

In my mind, there were three key things that I wanted to achieve with this asset library. The first, was that these assets would be a beautiful extension of the brand, but also modular enough that they could be used for a wide variety of promos etc. The second, was that these assets would be very easy to work with for The Dibz team. I created this library in Figma (what the team was using) and ensued that I had very clear folder, naming conventions, labels — making exporting very clear and easy, even for someone logging into Figma for the first time. The third, was recognizing that this library was another opportunity to create inspiration and examples of what future creative could look like across different mediums.

I started by listing a few of the key words I pulled from the brief goals and let those be my north star in creating. From there, I moved to what is sometimes, ever so eloquently referred to as, a brain dump. I threw together a lot of ideas before self-editing back a bit. I met with the team a couple of days after, to get present and get some initial thoughts. From here, we narrowed down to a few different templates — that I was able to start versioning out to multiple sizes. I also used this as a chance to use a wide variety of photography that I later incorporated into an image library of sorts.

The Result

The result, was a somewhat massive (yet very organized) Figma file with lots of different options to pull from. The team was able to quickly begin pulling different templates and update with the appropriate copy, sales, photography etc. I can confidently say that I was able to achieve each of the three initial goals I had set for myself to: Create something very modular/flexible, make it very easy for others to use and use this project as an opportunity to showcase how this brand has legs and can be adjusted for different executions.
