The Dibz Branding
Role:
Lead Visual Designer
Tools:
Figma + Illustrator + Photoshop

The Opportunity
The Dibz was brought forth to take a leading role in reducing textile waste by finding a home for much of the world's excess inventory, helping to save the planet, and your wallet. I was contracted to assist in bringing this emerging brand to life, by developing a visual identity and establishing a set of creative guidelines to help the team. I was given a creative brief, but ultimately pretty loose reigns to explore whichever directions I felt fit. Once we were all happy with this creative expression, I was tasked to help design a simple website for the brand.

The Process
With this project, I wanted to ensure that I provided a couple of very different directions that I felt strongly about — and quickly. This fail fast mentality worked well for the first stage of the project, allowing me to get a clearer understanding on what components and visuals were resonating and which were not. I pieced together a couple of moodboards to get the conversation moving. From here I was able to take all of my newly acquired insights and provide three directions that I felt could be accurate representations of The Dibz brand. Thankfully, they were all well received and it seemed a tough choice (always good). Communication and interpretation were pretty key in this phase and I was able to deduce certain details that they were really keen on. From here I asked for another day to weave some of those details into one concept, which.

The Result
The result was a brand that mirrored the youthfulness and innovation of The Dibz, leaning on bright colors, gradients, fashion-forward photography and a bit of playful iconography to appear approachable yet polished and fashionable — three key layers for the target audience. After wrapping up the set of guidelines, I was later tasked with working on the brand website as well as creating a library of assets that could be used across social. The Dibz was soon after acquired (which is mainly attributed to the great minds on their team) but was a win all around.
